Queensland - The Sunshine State - is our favorite state.
Brisbane is the biggest city and the capital of Queensland. Brisbane has got everything a city lover needs. You can sit in parks to relax and BBQ or play rugby. You can do some shopping in the numerous malls or climb the steep faces at the Brisbane river. Of course, Brisbane has got some good bars and clubs to have a nice cool Tooheys or XXXX.
The most time of our trip we spent in Brisbane and lived in a nice house with friends in Samford, 25km north west of Brisbane or Brissi (the Ozi guys like it to call the city like that sometimes). Samford is a little village surrounded by fields, meadows and the subtropical rainforest. From here we explored Brisbane and the environment and got to know the Australian life style. In Queensland you will find several types of climates and landscapes, from the desert to the subtropical and tropical rainforests and from beaches to high mountians. But even the animal world is amazing and you have to be careful beacause it may happen that you see some of the most poisonous snakes or spiders.

The highlight of course is the Great Barrier Reef which is off the north east coast of Queensland. It is just the paradise for diving and snorkeling. A world full of beautiful coloured fish. With a little bit of luck you may see some whales on the horizon during their mating season. But you can also go surfing, do some body boarding or walk along endless white beaches. Queensland is just a perfect place to enjoy life!
